A Little Check-In
Share
I wanted to take a moment to check in with myself and be honest about where I’m at in this journey. Lately, I’ve really been trying to pay attention to myself, showing up, being aware, and making the effort each day even when it’s not perfect.
I recently found a free app called "Lose It!" that I’ve started using to track what I’m eating. Now, it does ask you to upgrade quite a bit (which can be a little annoying), but the free version still works really well. You can track your meals, see your macros, scan a lot of foods into your day, or even create your own meals. So far, I’ve actually been enjoying using it and it’s helped me stay more aware of what I’m putting into my body.
Right now I set my daily calorie goal at 1,200 calories, and I’m trying to stay in a calorie deficit most days. Not perfectly, but intentionally. The app also lets you track exercise, even if it’s something simple like a 30-minute walk. Sometimes that little bit of movement is all it takes to get yourself going.
This week I’ve also been paying more attention to protein and fiber in what I’m eating. I’m realizing that when I focus on those things, I feel fuller and more satisfied instead of constantly wanting to snack.
At the end of this week, the scale showed I was down one pound (whoop). Small steps, small improvements, and giving myself grace along the way. We all know we can’t control where our body decides to lose fat first, but we can control the choices we make today. So I’m taking it one day at a time, learning as I go.
If you’re on a journey like this too, keep going. I will too. I’ll check back in soon and let you know how things are going.
